Current Position
Lecturer in Medical Sciences/Programme Lead for Medical Sciences Undergraduate Degree, BMedSci (Hons). Joined the School in February 2014.
Previous positions/background
First class Biology BSc (Hons) degree at University of Manchester, with a year’s work experience on DNA profiling in a forensic science laboratory.
First position within the Health Protection Agency’s Centre for Infections in north London, where reference and research work on the blood borne hepatitis viruses led to a PhD in Virology at University College London (UCL).
Postdoctoral position, and later lectureship, at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM, www.lshtm.ac.uk), studying drug resistance in the malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum and contributing to postgraduate teaching programmes.
Further postdoctoral position in the coordinating center of a large ovarian cancer screening trial – UKCTOCS (http://www.instituteforwomenshealth.ucl.ac.uk/womens-cancer/gcrc/ukctocs).
Teaching
Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in 2012.
Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Programme Lead and module organiser for several modules across the BMedSci (Hons) programme, and MSc Clinical Sciences programme.
