个人简历


Ispecializeinforestcommunityecology,restorationandconservationecologyofrelict,endangeredandrareplantspecies.Ihavealong-standinginterestinforestdynamics,interactionbetweenplantspecies,alsospeciesandtheirenvironment.Myresearchconcentratesparticularlyonthemechanismsunderlyingthestructureanddynamicsofsubtropicalforestsandsustainabledevelopmentofforestsinsouthwesternandsouth-centralChina.Myspecializationhasgivenmespecialstrengthtounderstandbiodiversity,ecosystemsandenvironmentalsustainabilityinthisgeographicalzone.
Inthefieldsofecology,interdisciplinarylearningandpersonalexperiencearekeycomponentstomyteaching.Ihavetaughtintheclassroomandinthefieldinordertofullyconveythemessagesofforestecology.Ihavetaughtinlaboratoriesandinfield-basedplantecologycourses,emphasizingexperientiallearninginboth.Ihaveadaptedtodifferentfieldandclassroomsituationswithattentiontofeedbackfrommystudents,toprovidethemostpositivelearningenvironmentandinspirethemtofeelpassionateaboutresearchonecologyandconservation.
Myresearchprojectshavebasedonthepremisethatrapidandunsustainablelanddevelopmentisincompatiblewithaconditionofbiologicaldiversitythathasbeenamongtheworld’shighest.Essentialtoforestpreservationisanunderstandingofhownaturalsuccessionoperatestomaintainahealthyplantcommunity.Suchcommunities,oncelost,cannotberecovered.Ourroleinsuchcaseshasbeenoneoffacilitationandeducation.Inalargersense,Ihopeourresearchresultswillinfluencedecisionsaffectingdevelopment,andwillultimatelybenefittheglobalenvironment.
二.科研工作
进行于植物生态学、植被恢复与珍稀濒危植物的保护学研究。尤其是投入于中国西南亚热带的常绿阔叶林的动态、演替,及中国第三纪孓遗树种幸存机制方面的研究。承担有关国际合作研究项目。
三.教学工作
开办有关植物生态学方面的特别讲座,着重于训练硕士及博士研究生怎样深入植物生态学方面的研究及怎样写科学论文。
