周文博士长期从事东亚季风活动、极端高温事件、旱涝灾害和水汽输送,以及台风的研究,取得了一系列创新性的研究成果,这些成果不仅有重要科学意义,也有助于提高我国短期气候预测水平,并为国家制定抗震减灾政策提供了科学的依据。在季风活动和我国极端天气研究方面,不仅揭示了夏季风在南海爆发所呈现的多尺度变化特征,以及对可预测性的影响;同时还研究了我国极端高温天气和寒潮的发生特征和成因, 针对严重影响我国的旱涝问题,研究了东亚地区的水汽输送变化规律,为年际和年代际气候预测提供了科学依据。还研究揭示了热带季节内振荡和ENSO对西北太平洋台风活动的调控作用和相关机理.研究领域
