1983年毕业于华中农学院植保系。
1989年毕业于中国农科院研究生院植物病理学专业。
1983年7月-1999年9月在中国农科院果树研究所工作，主要从事果树病毒研究。
1999年10月至今在华中农业大学工作，主要从事果树病理与病毒研究、植物保护学教学及植物病理学硕、博士研究生培养。
1990年、1998年、2001年和2003年分别赴德国植物病理研究所、意大利地中海作物病毒研究中心、美国和澳大利亚进行果树病毒合作研究及考察。
现为华中农业大学植物科技学院教授，博士生导师，国家梨产业技术体系病虫防控研究室主任、病毒病与生理病害防控岗位专家，国家果树脱毒种质资源室内保存中心副主任。
